Bitcoin Ordinals Explorer

Background

Ordinals enable Bitcoin NFT creation by linking data like images and videos to specific satoshis on the Bitcoin blockchain. Launched on Bitcoin mainnet in early 2023, ordinal NFTs are simply the latest way to create NFTs on Bitcoin. In 2023, Hiro launched the world's first ordinal NFT explorer, providing access to discover and monitor ordinal transactions across the Bitcoin/Stacks ecosystem.

What we did

Drawing upon input from Hiro's leadership, product mgmt, and their vibrant Discord community of Bitcoin/Stacks enthusiasts we designed the world's first user-friendly ordinals explorer. We leveraged the design system we created during our work on Hiro Platform to accelerate the design and development process, working closely with engineering to polish interaction details for custom components.

Results

Since its release in 2023, we have seen over 64 million ordinals minted and 10s of millions of API requests made through the Ordinals API. enabling developers around the world to retrieve Ordinal inscription metadata for their customers.
